Historit
Historit is a car storage and care company based at the Bicester Heritage site in Oxfordshire. It stores and maintains heritage and other exceptional cars, motorcyles and planes.
Dowie was asked to produce a logotype which reflected the golden era of motor racing, of wire wheels, monaco and Le Mans.
We drew up lettering from scratch, based on humanist 1930s fonts. A low bar on the H, and T bar angled ends evoked the hand drawn lettering of the day. The geometric I and O, and sharp joint on the R leg added further character. Generous letter spacing both matches the type techniques of the day and evokes a quality product.
The surrounding border represents strength and protection and effectively creates an exclusion area so the logotype always has good clear space around it - much like the stored vehicles.
