Gurteen menswear
Gurteen is one of Britains top trade suppliers of menswear, regularly voted Best Menswear Supplier by The Draper Magazine. Established in 1784, one of their first products was a reversible smock for farm workers allowing them to rotate the smock and appear cleaner in the hostelries in the evening! Today Gurteen is still based in its original, Grade 1 Listed factory building in the heart of Haverhill, Suffolk.
Gurteen remains a family-owned business, now run by the sixth and seventh generation of the Howard family, and supplies both own-brand and in-house labels to many of the UK's leading retail outlets.
Dowie created a strong simple logotype incorporating their established date which we saw as a powerful message.
Dowie designed the new retail website, working with an external web builder who coded the designs and integrated them into Gurteen's stock management software.
Dowie arranged and art directed a three day location photoshoot at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford which featured 67 items of trousers, jackets and coats. These original images provided great visual material for the new website launch.
